Use & Care
To store:
The mat can be folded or rolled up tightly for compact storage after practice.
To break in:
The surface texture of your EXTRA mat improves with use. Still, we recommend machine-washing the mat with a small amount of mild organic detergent before initial use. This will remove possible film residue left by the manufacturer and enhance the grip. Select a gentle cycle at 30°C (40°C maximum). Do not spin dry. Do not tumble dry.
After washing hang the mat up or lay it flat to dry. Optionally, to speed up the drying process, squeeze out excess water by rolling the mat up with a towel before leaving it to air-dry. Do not fold or use the mat before completely dry.
To clean:
For a quick cleaning after every practice, clean the mat with a wet cloth and a mild organic detergent or sanitizing spray. For deep cleaning, machine-wash the mat with a small amount of mild organic detergent. Select a gentle cycle at 30°C (40°C maximum). Do not use spin cycle. Do not tumble dry.

It’s not good during the summer or if you have a practice that makes your hands sweat. I always have to wear non-slip socks and it’s impossible to practice safely, since you have to watch your hands so they don’t slip. I’ve already washed it in the washing machine but it doesn’t get much better. In other words, I’ve had it for 6 months and I’m looking for another one to replace it. (I bought it at the store in my city).

Thank you for sharing your experience. The EXTRA mat features two closed-cell surfaces that provide good dry grip and exceptional durability. For practitioners with sweaty palms and feet, we recommend our GECO natural rubber mats, whose open-cell surfaces provide secure grip even during the sweatiest sessions.

After almost 11 years of daily professional use in my studio, our 15 EXTRA mats are still in excellent condition.
Their durability, comfort and quality have exceeded all my expectations. They have been one of the best investments I have made for my studio.
I am now planning to purchase KURMA mats again because I trust their quality completely.
Highly recommended!
