Carbon footprint
Reducing our carbon footprint, not hiding it
“I see climate policy as an insurance policy that, as a rational person, you must take out for your grandchildren and even for your children.”
– Marc Vanheukelen, Senior Adviser and Ambassador for Climate Diplomacy, European External Action Service
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. Every product that is manufactured, packaged and transported causes greenhouse gas emissions. Yoga products are no exception.
At KURMA, we no longer believe that claiming “carbon neutrality” through the purchase of carbon credits is the right answer. Offsetting emissions does not eliminate them. Our priority is to reduce emissions where they are actually created: in materials, manufacturing, packaging and logistics.
That starts with producing in Europe, designing long-lasting products, minimizing waste, reducing transport distances and continuously improving the efficiency of our supply chain. Every improvement matters.
We also believe that honest sustainability starts with transparency. As reliable life cycle assessment (LCA) data becomes available, we will share the carbon footprint of our products and communicate both our progress and the challenges that remain. Our goal is not to appear carbon neutral. Our goal is to leave a smaller footprint every year.
