Recycle your yoga prop

A buckwheat filled bolster consists of 3 main parts, the cotton outer cover, the cotton inner cover and the buckwheat hulls filling. Buckwheat hulls are organic waste and can be composted either in your own garden or through your municipal organic waste weekly collecting. To recycle your bolster, we recommend the following steps:

1) Remove the outer cover;

2) Open the zipper of inner cover and dump the buckwheat hulls either on the compost heap in your own garden or in the municipal organic waste collecting bin;

3) Deposit the outer and inner cover in the textile collecting container in your town or city.

To recycle your meditation cushion, we recommend the following steps:

Currently the most popular yoga blocks are either made from EVA (closed cell Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate copolymer foam) or from cork. ContinuOM Collective recycles yoga blocks made from each of these materials.

The Kurma cork blocks are made from zero waste cork grains. All our cork is recycled, it originates from the waste of the wine corks industry.

The new Kurma yoga blankets are made from 80% recycled cotton and 20% virgin cotton (for weave stability). We collect these blankets and send a full pallet of collected blankets to our recycler for shredding into fibers. Afterwards these fibers are spun into new yarns which are used to weave new Kurma yoga blankets.

Other yoga blankets are made from poly/cotton material or from fleece material. To recycle these, we recommend that you deposit these in the textile container in your town or city.

The Kurma yoga belts and straps are made of cotton webbing with a sewn in metal buckle.
