Recycle your yoga mat
Kurma aims to reduce the vast environmental impact of yoga worldwide. With every Kurma product, we design out waste and keep the materials in use thanks to industrial recycling. That’s why all Kurma products are 100% recyclable.
RECYCLE YOUR YOGA MAT!
Our collect initiative is currently limited to Belgium, Germany, Luxemburg and The Netherlands.
All Kurma mats (CORE Series, GECO Series, Extra and Spezial) can be recycled through Second Flow initiative from ContinuOM Collective. Initiated by Kurma, ContinuOM is a non-profit organisation dedicated to finding sustainable solutions for hard-to-recycle waste streams generated by the yoga industry and its consumers.
The Second Flow Initiative focuses on the collection of used yoga mats, the donation of too-good-to-go mats to worthy cause, and the recycling of yoga mats and production waste into new [yoga] products.
The ContinuOM Collective recycles old yoga mats from other brands/manufacturers. Currently ContinuOM has set up operational recycling for PVC mats, rubber mats and TPE mats.
The GECO Series mats are made with recycled rubber and can be 100% recycled into new rubber yoga mats. In the first year after we launched the GECO Series in 2020, 2.300 rubber mats have been recycled, and the number is increasing every day. With every new GECO Series production the number of recycled rubber mats will increase further.
Currently there’s no technology to grind the PVC material into very fine particles that can be reused in yoga mat production. As soon as the new recycling technology becomes available, we will be among the first to acquire it. The CORE Series are 100% recycled into new industrial products (like underfloor padding for horse stables).
